Industrial Visits

Industrial Visit - Train Management System (Bombay Central) The IV was conducted at the Bombay Central Station where students were explained the Train Management System (TMS) in detail. The TMS of the Western Railways is one of the most complex systems in the world. First, a 30 min informative session was conducted where the basic functioning of the TMS was explained, with the students being shown all the servers, racks, systems, etc. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where they got to know a lot more about the functioning of the Railways. After this session, the students were taken into the TMS central room - the one with a big screen, which shows all the stations of our city, and each train, be it local or outstation. Industrial Visit - Tata Power Plant The IV was conducted at the renowned Tata Teleservices, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. The event started off with an hour long oration that gave our students a high-level overview of how Tata operates its services. Every sector of Tata’s arsenal of technology services was gone through in ample detail to show students how the systems work in conjunction with each other. Tata’s Voice, Internet and Network Security domains – the company’s main area of focus and business model – were elaborated upon.
